How In-Show CTV Ad Placements Influence Perception of Premium Brands

Where an ad appears shapes how a brand is perceived — not just whether it’s seen. That’s especially true on CTV, where in-show placements put a brand inside premium content instead of interrupting it. The data suggests that context transfers: when an ad looks and feels like it belongs in a premium environment, viewers extend some of that same premium perception to the brand.

A :30 spot dropped into a commercial break carries no relationship to the show around it. An in-show placement – split screen, dynamic overlay, product integration – is built to match the look, tone, and production value of the content it appears in. That match matters for perception: in a national CPG brand’s holiday campaign using TripleLift’s Split Screen format, an eye-tracking study found a 43% lift in brand perception, alongside 94% aided recall and 98% recall of the brand’s seasonal messaging. Viewers weren’t just seeing the ad, they were forming a more favorable view of the brand because of how it showed up.

In a Visit Savannah campaign built around In-Show CTV creative served on premium Roku publishers like Tastemade and Hallmark Channel, viewers came away with a measurably better view of the brand: 46% had a more positive perception of Savannah after exposure, and 80% agreed the destination was desirable. Over half of respondents also said the ad wasn’t intrusive to the show and didn’t distract from it. That combination of a placement that respects the content, plus a lift in favorability is the mechanism at work. Viewers don’t experience the ad as an interruption to a premium environment; they experience the brand as part of it.

This is the core dynamic behind in-show performance: premium publishers and premium content carry a halo, and formats designed to sit naturally inside that content borrow some of it for the brand. TripleLift’s broader CTV results reinforce the same pattern across categories – brands that moved beyond the standard spot into non-standard, in-show-style formats saw outcomes exceeding industry benchmarks across CPG, hospitality, and food & beverage campaigns.

For brands trying to signal quality on the biggest screen in the house, placement is part of the pitch. In-show formats that integrate naturally into premium content don’t just get seen, they get associated with the caliber of the environment they’re in. That’s the perception lift that a standard ad break can’t offer on its own.
